ElectroBraid 8’ Sectional Ground Rod Kit

ElectroBraid’s 8’ Sectional Copper Ground Rod kit provides grounding for your fence system. This kit includes everything you need for your fence to perform effectively: four 2’ copper-clad ground rod sections, a specially-hardened steel tip, an anvil, and a copper-clad ground rod clamp. The clamp is designed with the ElectroBraid copper-based system in mind, to prevent galvanic corrosion between metals. The grounding circuit is a critical component of your electric fence and is essential for it to function properly. The charger, or energizer, is designed to alter the electric charge to provide a shock that is safe for animals and people. If the animal and the ground terminal of the charger are not sufficiently grounded, the path of electric current cannot be completed, and the animal will not feel the shock. Since earth provides half of the electric field circuit, it is crucial to have a properly installed ground circuit.

Why use a Sectional Ground Rod Kit?

You know that an electric fence is a great way to protect your property, and to keep your livestock safe and secure. But, did you also know, whether you want to keep things in – or out, any electric fence is only as good as its grounding system? In fact, most of the time, if a fence is not working; the problem can be traced to improper grounding. But, any fence builder knows they could be facing some big problems when buying conventional grounding rods. That’s because typical grounding rods are usually six to eight feet long – making them tough to transport, and even more difficult to install. All of that has changed, thanks to ElectroBraid’s revolutionary Sectional Copper Ground Kit.

At a Glance:

Instead of a single six to eight foot copper rod, each complete kit contains four individual 2-foot copper-clad sections, which is what makes the revolutionary Sectional Copper Ground Kit uniquely simple to transport, and very easy to install. Three sectional ground rod kits, spaced at least 10’ apart in a triangular configuration, are recommended to complete each ElectroBraid system. Dry, rocky, sandy or frozen soils may require more sectional ground rod kits. Also, longer electric fences often require grounding systems with multiple rods. Here’s all you do...

Step 1

Insert the male end of the ground rod into the hardened-steel tip

First... select the right location -- it should be within 25 feet of the energizer and 50 feet from any other grounding system. Using a wrench, tighten the hardened steel tip onto the first 2’ ground rod section. This makes it easier to break through rocks below the ground.

Step 2

Place the black anvil onto the female end of the ground rod

This will protect the threads on the end of the ground rod from becoming damaged during installation. This anvil is removed, and reused for each 2’ section.

Step 3

Hammer first section of the ground rod into earth

Using a rubber mallet, simply hammer the first section into the ground, with the specially designed anvil on the end you are hammering, and the hardened steel tip in the ground.

Step 4

Attach next 2’ section on top of the rod that is in the earth

Place the anvil on top before hammering each section into the ground, to prevent damage to the threads. Attach the additional sections, repeating steps 2 and 3 -- make sure that the last segment is about 5 inches above the ground. Once all 4 sections are in the ground, you will have a full 8’ ground rod.

Step 5

Attach the clamp to the ground rod & the wire to the clamp

Use a wrench to tighten the ground rod clamp onto the top ground rod section. Then thread the copper lead out wire through the bolts of the ground rod clamp.

Connect the ground wires, and repeat with more Sectional Ground Rods to complete your ElectroBraid grounding system. It’s really that simple! The ElectroBraid Sectional Copper Ground Kit uses the best materials, and ensures that your fence system can function properly, keeping your horse safe.
